Special Olympics Long Island Region has suffered a huge loss with the passing of Julia Castillo. Julia was a beloved coach, parent, and friend to many of us in our Special Olympics Long Island family. 

Julia will be missed greatly by everyone who was lucky enough to have met her. We ask all of you to keep her family in your prayers. 

Dix Hills Ice Rink

to host Figure Skating 

I am happy to announce that the Town of Huntington has agreed to allow SONY LI to use the Dix Hills Ice Rink for our Figure Skating Training Club.  

Practice Times:

Wednesday

3:45 pm - 4:45 pm

&

9:00 pm - 10:00pm

(training will begin ASAP) 

 

 I know it is to late to begin training for State Games this year but we are very excited for the opportunitis this will offer our Skaters now and for years to come.


If you are interested in attending the Dix Hills Figure Skating Training Club please contact me in the office if you interested in taking advantage of this excellent opportunity.

Winter State Games
 

Winter gamesSpecial Olympics would like to wish the Babylon Bobcats, Commack Sharks, and the Long Island Lions good luck at the State Games. Through their hard work and determination these teams have earned the opportunity to compete at State Games in Floor Hockey.

 

We would also like to wish Todd Zwarick, Vito Giambruno, Graham Green, Cindy Grillotti and Donna Cornell good luck in Nordic Skiing. These athletes will also be representing Long ISland at State Games.

 

I want to thank all of the coaches and parents of these athletes for making this possible. Thank you all and I will see you in Rochester!

 

 

West Hampton Beach 

Basketball Tournament

On March 8, 2009 Westhampton Beach High School will be hosting the 2nd annual Basketball Tournament. 

 Coaches please send in your rosters and registration forms ASAP.

Last years tournament was fantastic and this year it will be even bigger and better! I hope to see you all there.
