Special Olympics New York Long Island: December 2008

Special Olympics Long Island Coaches and Volunteers,

I hope all of you are enjoying the Holiday Season as well as Winter Training. We are currently in the process of securing a Rink for Figure Skating and Speed Skating. We have not locked down a practice time yet but it seems likely that the training will be on Wednesdays. If you are interested in attending or know an Athlete who might want to train in either of these two sports please contact me in the office at 631 254 1465 Ext. 13 or email me atcreisig@nyso.org.

Javits Floor Hockey Tournament

NYC Javits Floor Hockey Tournament will be held on January 10, 2009. They will be offering Skills and Team Competition. All Long Island teams are invited. Javits is one of the biggest Winter Events and we would love to see everyone there. Coaches please send in your Registrations and Rosters. If you do not send the office a complete Training Club Roster you can NOT attend Javits and will NOT be placed in the running for State Games. Please send both forms into the office ASAP.

Sectional Ski Event

The Sectional Ski Event will be held on January 24, 2009 at West Mountain in Glen Falls. Long Island has Athletes participating in this event and they would love to see you there supporting them while they compete. If you would like more information on this event please contact the Long Island Office. Coaches please send in your Registrations and Training Club Rosters ASAP. If you do not hand in a complete Roster you will NOT be able to attend the Ski Event and will NOT in the running for State Games.

Winter State Games

Special Olympics New York State Winter Games will be held February 6-8, 2009. We are currently in the selection process to see which Training Clubs will be attending the Event in Rochester. If you are a Coach and have not sent in a Training Club Roster you are NOT in the running to attend this Event. Please give your Athletes a chance to compete in this event by sending in a Roster ASAP.

I will sending out Registration Forms and Rosters to all Winter Coaches again today. Coaches, please complete both forms and hand them in ASAP or you will NOT be eligible to attend any events. Parents and Volunteers, if you are interested in showing support for our Athletes at any of these events and you would like more information please contact me in the office.
