The Great Cow Harbor 10K Run and 2K Fun Run / Walk:

RACE DAY
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2008

The Great Cow Harbor 10K Run and 2K Fun Run / Walk, a nonprofit event, is held in cooperation with a number of community organizations. The proceeds are used to make a substantial contribution to Special Olympics New York Long Island Region. We need your support!

The 31st Great Cow Harbor 10K Run will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2008. This event is being organized as the biggest Cow Harbor Race yet. Join the over 5,000 participants, who will run through the village streets of Northport, New York.

The Great Cow Harbor 10-Kilometer Run is one of the most prestigious foot races in the country and nationally ranked. Runner's World has named the Cow Harbor Race as one of the top 100 races in the USA. New England Runner places The Great Cow Harbor 10K Run in its Top 100 Races of 2001, stating "Big race atmosphere in a small town on the Island; it's a winner! Who says those "rolling" courses can't be fun?"

The recently instituted 2K Fun Run / Walk has been a huge success. This event attracts families and participants of all ages. Over 1000 entrants are expected.

The Cow Harbor Race features chip timing. Finishing times are available faster than ever before. For those not familiar with this method of timing, all participants will wear an ankle bracelet with a timing chip attached. As you cross the finish line your time will be automatically recorded and placed into the finish database. Finish times will be displayed at a designated location in the Northport Village Park.

Special Olympics NY Long Island Region is forming a FUN WALK TEAM and we need you to join in TODAY! Please contact Rebecca Keller –rkeller@nyso.org, 631-254-1465 ext11.

Cancellation: The Race will be held rain or shine. The only reasons for cancellation are hurricane, thunderstorms or unsafe course conditions. Please watch News 12 Long Island for any cancellation notice.

Keep in touch with the Cow Harbor Race website for any future developments and announcements concerning the race.
